Shokolat

Shokolat is a contemporary British pianist and composer whose work sits at the meeting point of the classical tradition and modern atmospheric writing. His pieces favour melody and emotional clarity over complexity for its own sake, drawing as readily on cinematic and post-romantic textures as on classical form.

Writing for solo piano and for melody instruments especially Cello, he composes with deliberate openness. His scores are widely available and pitched to be playable by performers of every level.

Shokolat performed at Eaton Hall, the Duke of Westminster's estate, for the 30th anniversary of the Prince's Trust, presenting a piece written specially for the occasion. He has also hosted and performed at the Brangwyn Hall in a charity concert for local causes.

His music is on rotation across national radio internationally, including Classic FM Netherlands (classicfm.nl) and Klassik Radio Germany (klassikradio.de), and has been featured in BBC Music Magazine and Pianist Magazine.

Alongside his music, Shokolat works as a visual artist. His artworks and sculptures are available through Saatchi Gallery Online at (saatchiart.com/shokolat).
